AFF Training

Welcome Accelerated Freefall (AFF) students
The wind tunnel is the perfect environment to learn the skills that are
taught in the accelerated freefall(aff) program.
Learn to fly your body in the wind tunnel, and then see how much easier
the skydive becomes.
It makes no difference whether you have never jumped before , or if you
are part way through the AFF program. The wind tunnel can help you.
You will be able to totally focus on what your body is doing in the wind
tunnel without any outside distractions and anxiety. There is no plane
ride, no exit, opening the parachute, or landing to worry about. Therefore
100% of your attention will be on your body flight.

There are approximately 7 steps that we will follow in the AFF tunnel
progression program. They are designed to help you learn the same skills
that you will need to be successful in your AFF and coach jumps.

  • 1-Body Position.
We will start you off low, (on the screen) where we will easily be able
    to correct your body position.
  • 2-Turns & Forward/Back
360 degree left and right turns will be taught, (still done on the screen)
Then you will do forwards and backwards movements. This will help you to
learn more about leg control, and leg awareness in freefall.
  • 3-Turns & Forward/back
Same drill as before in #3, except this time you will be flying higher up
    in the column of air.
  • 4-Heading Control
Practice maintaining a heading in the tunnel, using the walls or your
coach as a heading reference. This is the same skill you will need to do
in order to be successful on your level 3 AFF jump.
  • 5-Pull Sequence
Practice the wave and pull sequence in the wind tunnel, whilst maintaining
    a heading.
  • 6-UP & Down
You will practice arching more and relaxing the arch position. This will
allow you to move vertically up and down the column of air.
  • 7-Grips
You will now learn to move forward, stay on level, and pick up the grips
that the instructor will be presenting to you.

Each individual will progress through these 7 steps at different rates.
But once you can successfully do all these exercises, they will greatly
benefit your skydiving, and therefore make your student progression very
successful.
